MY HEART BEATS FOR YOU chapter 07

My Heart Beats for you
Chapter 7
.
Today is the day I get married. Marriage, this word just sounds too strange and am about to experience it.
I put on the gold bangles that were given to me by my father. An unwanted tear escapes my left eye. Am going to leave my parents. My brother.
I promised I would never leave them, and now look at me just about to get married. A new starting, with a new partner. After darkening my lips with red, I took one last glance at the mirror.
A girl stood there staring at me with a small smile on her face. Her black eyes shined due to the water in them. She had light make-up and looked extremely beautiful. This wasn’t me. It was soon to be Mrs. Shanzay.
The door of my room opened and there stood my mother with a huge smile on her face and tears in her eyes, threatening to come out.
She scanned me and pulled me into a hug.
“MashAllah, Shanzay you look beautiful.” She said while wiping her tears with her left hand abd caressing my face with her left hand.
“Mom stop crying, you are gonna get me emotional too.” I whined.
“These are tears of joy. You have no idea how happy I am to see you getting married.”
“I knew it! You wanted me to leave you. I just knew it!” I said jokingly.
She hit my arm lightly and then kissed my forehead.
“Just look dad, Shanzay is stealing all of mom’s love!” A voice broke out in the room. I looked towards the door and saw my brother and father standing there, looking extremely handsome. But am never going to admit that to Isa.
Mom pulled at Isa’s ear. “Owww, sorry.” And then the next thing I know I was off the floor and Isa was twirling me around.
“You look beautiful sis!” I smiled at him. He put me down and wrapped his arm around my shoulder.
“Hey now, she is my daughter too. My princess does look beautiful today. “
I smiled warmly at dad and immediately engulfed him in a hug. He stroked my head gently. I felt tears streaming down my face. ” Shhh! Don’t cry.”
He kissed my head and looked at me warmly. He then motioned towards outside letting me know that it was time to leave. I grabbed my father’s hand as he led me outside.
I was now sitting in a room decorated with lights and flowers. It was now time to sign the papers. I was waiting for everyone to come back. They had all left to get the bride groom. I felt the door getting opened and immediately looked down. My mother came in and took a cloth which covered me. I felt the couch dip beside me and I knew that Shahveer was sitting now. My brother now stood between Shahveer and me holding the cloth.
The imam came in holding a file in his hands. He said some prayers before asking Shahveer to sign the papers. Then the nikkah papers were passed on to me to sign. My hands lingered over the papers. Am I sure? Am I ready for this? Yes, I am. With that one last thought I signed the papers and the crowd broke into claps. People came up and congratulated us.
I was now married. Not single anymore. I was brought out into the hall where everyone was having dinner. Shahveer went over to his friends and I sighed in relief. But I have to face him later.
I sat there playing with my fingers and staring at my purse because right now it seemed like the most interesting thing in the world. I felt the couch dip beside me but I didn’t pay any attention.
Out of nowhere a hand grabbed my left hand. I was startled and immediately looked up to be greeted by beautiful grey eyes. I quickly averted my gaze and looked down again.
“You look beautiful today. Well not only today, everyday.”
A smile was now etched on my ‘redder then tomato face’. He just had to comment.
Admit it! You Loooove it.
No I don’t!
Look who’s talking.
Nevermind. I noticed that his hand was resting above mine. I slowly removed it from his grasp. Out of the corner I saw him smirk. He looks so handsome. But nu-uh am not going to tell him that.
It was now time for the bride to leave. My mother helped me get down the stage and made me stand beside Shahveer. This is it. I cannot leave my family. I saw my dad, with a sad look on his face. Tears were streaming down my face.
I always thought that why brides cry when they get married and leave. Its not like they are leaving their parents forever. I thought it was pointless. But now I understand, because am just in the same situation.
I latched on my mother after my father. She whispered some prayers in my ear, soothing me gently. I looked for Isa and he was nowhere to be found. Maybe he is happy that am leaving and has already left for home to enjoy. I stepped out of the mosque with a heavy heart.
Shahveer helped me sit in the passenger seat while he went around and sat beside me. All I could think was of did Isa really hate me that much? Suddenly, there was a knock on the window. Two hands came out, one holding a huge dairy milk and the other jasmines.
Isa was standing there with a sad smile on his face. He kissed my forehead through the window and gave Shahveer a glare. He wiped my tears away and pulled back. The windows pulled back up. I waved, as Shahveer started the car and we drove off.
There was an eerie silence in the car. The radio was on and a romantic song was playing. I avoided to make any eye contact with Shahveer. He grabbed my hand and kissed it. I blushed red as he winked at me. He started making circles on my hand with his thumb. After a while I got comfortable with his touch.
Its so boring in here. I feel like pulling my hair. Instead I started humming and tapping my fingers on my leg.
Cause you, you’ve got this spell on me
I don’t know what to believe
Kiss you once now I can’t leave
‘Cause everything you do is magic
But everything you do is magic.
Oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh
C’mon
Kiss you once now I can’t leave
‘Cause everything you do is magic
But everything you do is magic.
I heard a chuckle beside me. He heard me! Dammit. I totally forgot about him.
“How long?” I asked him.
“Fifteen minutes.” He replied.
Fifteen minutes later we pulled up outside a huge mansion. It was beautiful and I was staring at it in awe. Shahveer grabbed my hand and pulled me up with him. As soon as the door opened I was seperated from Shahveer. All the girls were surrounding me and giggling.
They made me sit on a swing which was decorated with red and white roses. They all sat in a circle and one by one started introducing each other.
So I figured they are Shahveer’s maternal cousins.
“He really knows how to pick girls. She sure is a beautiful one.” Whispered one of the girls.
I smiled shyly at them. Then Shahveer’s mother came in. She didn’t look too happy but she was smiling. She shooed all the girls away and helped me climb up the stairs. We were now standing outside a room as Mom fumbled with her keys. Yes! She told me to call her mom and let me tell you her hugs are to die for. I promisedto myself that I’ll win her love, and uncle’s too.
She opened the door and I gasped at the sight. There was a huge bed in the middle of the room, it was beautifully decorated. I was stunned. Did Shahveer do this? He did a great job!
Thumbs up Dude!
Mom helped me settle down on the bed and left me waiting for Superman. Naw , just kidding. Its been about forty-five minutes and prince charming still hasn’t decided to grace me with his presence. The stupid handicraft on the dress had been nagging me all day.
I could have worn something less heavy but nothing can happen when you have a mother like mine. I still haven’t taken my hijab off. C’mon bud, enter please I need to CHANGE!
At the same moment, the door clicked open. I grew nervous, wishing that I would faint before he sees me. But no, fate wasn’t on my side. I heard footsteps, as Shahveer came closer. He sat down in front of me. He brought his finger up and pushed it under my chin forcing me to look at him.
“So beautiful….” he murmured
I blushed, and lowered my gaze not wanting to meet his.
“Hey, now no need to be shy. I am your husband now. Nothing is haram between us anymore.”
He brought his face closer to mine, until our foreheads were touching. This is it! My first freaking kiss!!
I closed my eyes waiting for it to be over.
“I’m so sorry…” with that he pulled away and stood up. I blinked, what the falooda was that? I stood their watching him. He grabbed the suitcase which was placed beside the closet, kissed my forehead and left. But before leaving he gestured towards the couch and then left.
What? Why did he leave? I immediately stood up and went towards the couch. There was an envelope, I picked it up and opened it. More like teared it.
There was a note inside and a credit card. I read the note. It said:
Am sorry Angel for leaving you. Believe me I didn’t want to. But circumstances forced me to do this. I’ll be back soon. Use this credit card of mine for anything you wish.
-Shahveer
How cheap! He thinks that money will replace the hurt that he gave me when he left me alone on OUR wedding night. I never expected my wedding night to turn out like this. I guess he realized that I wasn’t fit enough to be his wife and he is going to divorce me as soon as he comes.
I got changed and flopped down on the bed. Tears brimmed my eyes as I recalled what was going to happen. Slowly darkness swept over me, taking me to dreamland.
