(My Root)

My root is Ikorodu Oriwu,
Oga is where they treat concubines with much fragility,
One will think they haven’t set their sight on a woman before,
Yet their homes are flooded with wives.

The town that has grown to become a division,
Who can tell us Ikorodu born aren’t prosperous,
All over the globe you will find us there,
You don’t need a touch before you see.

The late legal practioner & nationalist T.O.S Benson (SAN) is ours,
You say you don’t know Abike Dabiri (Head of Nigerians in diaspora),
Who doesn’t know the sensational acts Qdot & Zlatan,
Don’t let me forget Azizat Oshoala the international footballer.

There exists strength in unity,
In onesness we stand tall,
Togetherness makes us strong,
Divided we fall and fail.

Home they say is where the heart lives,
Progress should be contagious,
Always give back to the society that made you,
What ever you become don’t ever forget your root
